How YouGoodAI compares to parental control apps
Short answer: they solve different problems, and many families will want both. Parental control apps like Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link, Bark, and Qustodio manage the device: how long it's used, which apps open, which websites load. YouGoodAI governs the conversation: what actually gets said between your kid and an AI, in both directions.
Device-level controls
Screen-time limits, app blocking, web filters, location. They decide whether and when your kid can open an app. They're good at that, and we don't replace them. But once an AI chat app is open, the conversation inside it is beyond their reach.
Conversation-level governance
YouGoodAI works inside the AI chat. Your family's safety rules check every question and every answer, understanding intent rather than matching keywords. Sensitive requests wait for your one-tap approval, homework mode turns the AI into a tutor instead of an answer machine, and you see topics and trends, never transcripts.

What we deliberately don't do
YouGoodAI is not a screen-time tool, not a web filter, and not a phone monitor. We don't read texts, track location, or watch other apps. If you need those, a device-level tool is the right choice, and the ones above do it well.
We also don't store conversations. Most monitoring products work by collecting your kid's activity on their servers so you can review it. YouGoodAI is built the opposite way: messages pass through your safety rules in memory and are never stored on our servers. Chat history lives on your family's device, and what you see is safety events and broad topics, never what your child actually said. The details are in our privacy policy.
Can I use both?
Yes, and it's a good setup. Keep your device-level controls for screen time and app limits, and let YouGoodAI be the place your kid uses AI, with your rules running inside every conversation. One tool governs the phone; the other makes AI a tool your kid can safely learn with instead of a companion, a therapist, or a homework machine.
Free during the beta. AI costs included, nothing to configure.
